UPDATED RATING: I am increasing my rating from 1 to 4 stars as a result of the customer service I received from the manufacturer. Although Revain's return window for the item had expired, a Tenergy representative offered to ship me a new lamp free of charge after learning of the problem with the USB port. They determined that this particular lamp had to be defective (since the USB port never worked even when the lamp was brand new). They were very responsive and easy to communicate with customer support. Got a new lightbulb yesterday, plugged it in and the USB port works! Hooray! I would definitely consider ordering from them again given the positive experience with customer service and the fact that they stand behind their product. ORIGINAL REVIEW: If you're buying this for a USB connection, beware! I bought this lamp (new) for someone as a Christmas present and the USB port was one of the main reasons I chose this lamp over many others. The recipient has been using this lamp as a bedtime reading light for a couple of weeks now (and the light part worked great) but it was only today that he got around to trying the USB port to charge his phone. And it doesn't work! We tried 3 different charging cables and 5 different devices. Nothing. It won't even charge for a while, then stops - clearly no power from the port. Of course (unfortunately) the "return window" for the lamp closed a few days ago, so we are now stuck with a lamp that has an unusable USB port. I don't know if I got a 'used' lamp by accident or just a manufacturing defect, but either way it was a big disappointment. None of the reviews I read before buying mentioned a faulty USB port, so it didn't even occur to me that the bulb would work (but not the USB port). So if you decide to buy this lamp, immediately check the USB connection to make sure you don't have a defect like I did.
