I'm extremely ambivalent about this table at the moment. After finding no reviews and only one photo, I realized this was a risk. In short, table 1 arrived damaged and had to be replaced. In addition to this problem, Table 2 has the following problems. Problem 1: The lines are less graceful in real life than they appear in the photo. the legs are hardly (not?) flared. The general appearance is a bit stockier than I wanted. PRO: Having said that, it's still a pretty cute table in person. The finish looks smooth and it's quite a heavy and sturdy table. Problem 2: THE LIFT IS SO HIGH. The table is 29 inches high which is pretty ridiculous for a 19 inch table. I had to move it to another room (not what it was intended for) with a sofa that stands 3 inches higher, and I still feel like a five year old at the dining table. That's a pity for me, because I've been longing for a table with a lifting top for many years. I really wanted this one to hit the mark. PRO: The lifting mechanism is smooth and durable and slides easily. Problem 3: what. comes with a counterweight. When you open the box, the shelf is at the top, loosely attached with thin ties to a lightly wrapped stone slab intended to level the bottom of the table. It wasn't until we ripped off that half-shredded material to detach the shelf and halfway through assembling that we realized the instructions and hardware didn't provide a way to attach the counterweight. ? We had to improvise with some spacers we had on hand that we screwed into the bottom of the shelf. That was all before we finally turned the table over because of its unwieldy weight. PRO: Assembly was pretty easy anyway. maybe 20 minutes, almost entirely by one person. Counterbalance can be a puzzle if you don't know how to use an arsenal of different mounts. The weight is about 1 1/8 inches thick if that helps with your planning. Problem 4: It wasn't until we fully assembled it and partially modified it to address the counterbalance issue that we flipped the table over and found we had a damaged table again. I don't know if I can handle a third round try or even a comeback. We may need to putty and touch up the paint a bit to make it work. PRO: Even in the wrong room, slightly damaged, too big and too boxy, it's still a pretty good looking table and probably a lot considering its looks. listed elsewhere. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA But I hope it grows on me) Go now and be better informed customers than me.
