Really nice fermenter, well made, good looking, but small.

I’m giving this fermenter 5 stars, but most of the review, and photos, will be about its small size. This is not a negative; I feel that you should be aware of what a fermenter this size is and isn’t capable of producing. While 2.0 liters sounds as if it may be a bunch (about 68 oz.), remember that a typical jar of sauerkraut, for example, is between 32 and 42 oz.That being said, you go to the store, open up the jar, and finish off the 32 or 42 ounces of product.Good sauerkraut takes a minimum…

Pros
  • 12.9 x 8.6 x 8.4 inches
Cons
  • The tangerine color may fade over time

Great Small Batch Fermentation Crock

After using this crock on a couple small fermentation batches, I really appreciate how well it was made. The crock, lid, and weights are heavy-duty ceramic that feel like they will last a lifetime. The glaze on the jar and lid seems like it is really thick, so they are easy to clean. While it is a tight fit, I can get my hand inside the jar which makes it easy to work with. The weights have done an excellent job of keeping my vegetables submerged, so I only need to open the crock to check the pH

Pros
  • Easy to use and clean! I like it better than glass fermenters but that's just me!
Cons
  • It's not dishwasher safe, so you have to hand wash it

Repurposed as a bodacious oversized cookie jar.

First, the awkward news: We're not using this excellent Razorri Comodo Ceramic Fermentation Crock as a fermentation crock. Now, the good news: this is the most bodacious cookie jar our kitchen has ever seen!Yes, Grandma started a cottage baking business, which means that our house has even *more* awash in great smells and scrumptious baking products than it used to be.And we've discovered that this fermentation crock makes a perfect, oversized (because we got's us lotsa' cookies.) cookie jar.The

Pros
  • Fermentation & More
Cons
  • The weight of the crock makes it difficult to transport

It's okay. on my review.

Disappointed that parts of the weights aren't glazed. No user's manual or anything like that and the box provided little information about the product. The crock is fine but the water reservoir is a bit shallow. Made kimchi and sauerkraut so far and they both fermented nicely.

Pros
  • 🔺User-Friendly for Beginners: This 0.5-gallon compact size multifunctional sourdough crock is a nice choice for beginners or a small household family. Razorri provides an in-time support service that helps to start a great fermenting journey.
Cons
  • The water seal may leak if not properly secured

Good size for starting out.

I used this quite a bit this summer to ferment squash pickles, make sauerkraut, and dill pickles from recipes and instructions I found on YouTube, and everything turned out great except my first batch of kraut, and I think that's because it needed more salt. I'm hoping to try some kimchi soon. Since I'm the only one in the house that eats fermented foods, this was a good size for one person. It does require a bit more attention than the kits for mason jars since this has a water trough that…

Pros
  • we used it to make sour kraut worked well
Cons
  • It's not suitable for making large batches of fermented food

Perfect for small batches

This fermenter crock has 2 1/2 side weights that fit into the crock, holding food down under the brine. When I found some slipping to the top, it was easy to tuck it back under the weights. There is also a well on the top for water. This allows the gases to escape from the ferments, but keeps bad bacteria out. It's perfect for small batches of kimchi, sauerkraut, and fermented carrots. I have mine sitting in a bowl because I can never tell how much is too much water, and it can seep out. you…

Pros
  • Home & Kitchen
Cons
  • The weight of the crock may cause it to scrape or scuff your countertops

Makes a lot of sauerkraut

This works pretty well. I had issues with the water ring going dry pretty quickly, but I live in a desert. I preferred this to the mason jar with a one way valve lid because I didn’t have to hide it away in total dark.It is not air tight unless you put water in the ring on the top and place the lid into the water.

Pros
  • 🔺Airtight Water Seal: The water gutter seal blocks the outside air from getting in while the lid vent allows gases inside to escape in time, perfectly ensure an anaerobic crock environment for better fermentation results.
Cons
  • It may take longer to ferment food in this crock compared to other methods

This is a great little crock for those just starting to ferment or just need a smaller amount. If you use Holly Howe’s recipes, which are excellent, they are based on 1 quart ball jars. This suits those recipes nicely as it is about 2 quarts. You can easily get an average head of cabbage in this crock. This is the type that has a water seal, so after you add the cabbage and salt, you place the weights on top to fully submerge it and put the lid on and fill the top with water to seal. This is…

Pros
  • Fermenters
Cons
  • The lid's seal may trap unpleasant odors if not cleaned properly

The perfect size! best in my review

I love fermenting.kimchi, sauerkraut, kombucha.and I have used mason jars, and crocks and I love crocks the best for fermenting but all my crocks are huge and I don't always want gallons upon gallons of one product so I just love the size of this crock. Makes a good amount but not so much that you get sick of looking at it. Well constructed, the channel by the lid is filled with water to make an air tight seal but allow gasses to escape. I like that the weights are included because that isn't…

Pros
  • With the Razorri Comodo Ceramic Fermentation Crock, you can enjoy delicious, homemade fermented foods that are packed with flavor and nutrition, all while preserving the age-old art of fermentation
Cons
  • The tangerine color may not be to everyone's taste

Great product!: my feedback

Solid, sturdy, thick. We really like this fermentation crock for sauerkraut. The water seal worked well. The inside is glazed, so it was a little different than the description FYI.

Pros
  • Home Brewing & Wine Making
Cons
  • The ceramic material may crack if dropped or mishandled

Great as a petri dish

Fermented some peppers. Had to look online for directions since none were provided. At the end of the fermentation I opened the lid to find a mold factory. The whole batch had to be tossed. My friend had the same experience with his (same brand/model). It’s a good looking pot. It now holds nuts/ bolts in my garage.

Pros
  • The 2L capacity is perfect for small batches of kombucha, kimchi, sauerkraut, pickles, and other fermented foods
Cons
  • It may not be suitable for people with limited mobility due to its weight

This is a beautiful, well designed pickling/fermenting crock that is just the right size for small batches. It isn't too heavy and will easily fit in the refrigerator once the fermenting process has been completed. It is the type of crock that uses a water moat to seal the food to be pickled/fermented during processing, so it is important to check the water level every day or two. I have several two and three gallon pickling crocks that are made in the USA (Ohio Stoneware) that are very similar

Pros
  • The fermentation crock is easy to use and requires minimal effort to maintain, making it perfect for busy individuals or families who want to enjoy the benefits of fermented foods without all the hassle
Cons
  • The ceramic material may crack if exposed to extreme temperatures

Makes small quantity but still an excellent crock.

The top has over flow area that is great when fermenting food. The fermenting food can breathe.Small crock but excellent quality.Would buy again.

Pros
  • This traditional water-sealed jar ensures that your fermented foods are protected from outside contaminants, preventing spoilage and ensuring maximum flavor and nutrition
Cons
  • The glazed weights may rust over time

Cute little red crock

Love the little crock. When I first started fermenting veggies these used to be a lot pricier, definitely happy with the priceplus the fact that you get the pressing stones included is NICE!

Pros
  • Kitchen & Dining
Cons
  • The water seal may require frequent monitoring and adjustment

Good quality jar but Bad design

The gutter is too shallow. Have to refill water to seal it every single day or else air gets in. It’s a pain. Should have bought a jar with deep gutter.

Pros
  • Works just like its supposed to
Cons
  • The ceramic construction can make it heavy and cumbersome to move around

Great customer service.

Beautiful crock; looking forward to my first ferment. My product arrived with the "glazed weights" without any glaze at all. Contacted customer support at Razorri and they immediately sent out a replacement correcting the glazed weights. Arrived fast both the original and the replacement. Would not hesitate to buy from them again.

Pros
  • Love this little crock, made kimchi in it was really good.
Cons
  • The water-sealed lid may be difficult to remove, especially if it's tight

Beautiful fermentation crock to keep on the counter!

I have been wanting to make my own pickles at home. This spring I planted cucumber so all I'm waiting for is to harvest them this summer and try this beautiful crock out! It's just the right size for my household and it's a much larger size than a typical commonly used canning jar. It's a total of four pieces. The crock, its lid, and the fermentation weights (2 pieces) that fit perfectly in the crock to weigh the vegetables down bellow the brine to prevent exposure to air. It's dark to keep the…

Pros
  • The Razorri Comodo Ceramic Fermentation Crock is a perfect gift for health-conscious friends or family members who are interested in trying their hand at home fermentation
Cons
  • It may be difficult to transport without the proper packaging

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is the best fermentation crock out there!

I've tried using mason jars for fermenting and they work ok, but I've read into traditional Chinese fermentation crocks and this is exactly it. Put the weights on top of whatever fruit/vegetable/meat is fermenting and then close the lid. Fill the small space on the lid with water to seal it.I could't ask for a better jar. I'd highly recommend it!

Pros
  • Good value. Well made
Cons
  • It may not fit in smaller fridges due to its size

Razorri Comodo Ceramic Fermentation Crock - 2 Liter (0.5 Gallon) Traditional Water-Sealed Jar with Glazed Weights - Fermenter for Kombucha, Sauerkraut, Kimchi, Pickles (Tangerine Tango)We make sauerkraut year round and sour pickles every summer, and I've always coveted a proper old-fashioned fermentation crock. This one is beautiful, a bold orange, and well made, and looks great on the counter. The little water well in the rim is very functional, keeping out cooties and fruit flies, while…

Pros
  • Fermented foods have been shown to have a number of health benefits, including improved digestion, better immune function, and even reduced risk of certain diseases
Cons
  • It may take longer to clean than other fermentation vessels

Nice pickling crock

This is a really nice, user-friendly pickling crock. I like the fact that I can get my big hand into it, when I can't get it into a wide-mouth mason jar. I also like the water seal, but with some cautions: Don't let the seal area evaporate dry. This will expose the two small vents, which will allow mold spores or fruit flies to enter. Also, I recommend adding salt to the water in the water seal, in the usual pickling proportions (5-10%) to make sure the sealing water doesn't bring in…

Pros
  • The Razorri Comodo Ceramic Fermentation Crock is made from high-quality materials that are durable and long-lasting
Cons
  • It may be difficult to clean without the proper tools
