Wear something over that or plan for a season or two.

They wear out quickly. Look how tiny they are. There is not much between plastic and metal. A season isn't much hiking when you're in the mountains and you'll be up to the metal. If you run it too long (perhaps because you're 20 miles away) your expensive sticks will break. If you're on level ground, these pea-sized spikes will sink into the ground, even if it's a little damp. Which answer? Put significantly larger nozzles on it. They may be slightly rounded with a checkerboard pattern to make them easier to grip. when they wear out. Replace them and leave them in the field as a last resort. They figured out pretty quickly why the jets appeared. They don't have to be made by Black Diamond, but they can.
