So I really like the concept of this brush. It's basically a large flat brush designed to help straighten the hair, which is what attracted me to this product. There are many combs and straightening brushes on the market, but I rarely see one that is actually a flat brush. This brush heats up to 410*F making it suitable for thicker/coarse hair types like mine. I have curly hair so I didn't expect this brush to straighten it at all. Basically, I blow dry my hair first and then use this brush to easily straighten it. For my hair type, I think this is described more as a straightening brush. It won't really smooth out much, but the heat going through will smooth out the cuticles, I agree. I think it's the design of the paddle brush and how wide the heated "bristles" are. Those with naturally straight hair will likely find that this brush is great for that! Basically, no matter what a regular flat brush does to your hair, this brush will do it with added heat to smooth it out. The brush is a nice weight and looks very attractive on my countertop. I will continue to use it to straighten my hair after styling or just to freshen it up when I don't want to mess with a straightener. I enjoy the convenience factor.
