This extension will work just fine. I used it between the new Sony ZV-1 and its BT Remote Assembly hand tripod. The male and female UNC-20 1/4" holes and bolt match perfectly and the male side was NOT too long to rest on the base of the camera before the rubber boot was tightened. The extension is slightly longer and larger ( in diameter) than I would have liked for this application, but I really like how each of the telescoping sections locks the extension in place and the 90 degree rotation angle (or so) makes it strong enough to support the weight of this Point -and-shoot camera that's probably twice the weight of any smartphone or GoPro action camera, I can't weigh to verify this.
