I bought this for my spouse to try as they deal with restless legs syndrome (RLS) and sleep apnea as well as chronic pain issues. They are also prone to nightmares, which are sometimes associated with sleep apnea. I searched for a long time, read reviews and finally decided on this one. It has been extremely successful in improving the quality and duration of her sleep. They often woke up early in the morning after 5-6 hours of sleep and could not go back to sleep. With this duvet, we can happily say that it's closer to 8 hours of restful deep sleep. As a person sharing a bed, I can experience more restful sleep, much less tossing and moving legs. This has greatly affected the quality of sleep! We have a large double bed and it is perfect for his half bed. It overlaps my side by about 8 inches, but I roll it toward the center, which makes it a heavy part and keeps it from sliding off the bed. If you leave too much of it hanging over the edge of the bed, gravity will pull it in, so be careful. It would be the perfect size for twins. We choose 20 pounds, he likes it. It does get a bit hot, but we were able to solve this problem by lowering our air conditioning by 2 degrees. The baffles are stitched with additional smaller panels and really help distribute the beads well. The fabric is nice and there are tabs to use in the duvet cover if desired, but it gets too hot. We had absolutely no trouble finding sand in the bed, which was a common complaint with almost every other weighted comforter. Haven't washed it yet but we have a cat who loves to sleep on it and using the upholstery attachment on my vacuum got rid of the hair. I tried and five minutes later I had to get under him. It was too much for me and it really bothered my legs to have something heavy on them, regular blankets are fine for me. On the other hand, my spouse almost fell asleep after five minutes for an afternoon nap, which never happens. You will love it or leave it to our experience! I have a front loading machine, I washed it on the gentle cycle according to the instructions. I thought it might bunch up and not fall properly due to the weight, but it worked great. And it actually dried faster than a regular quilt or comforter because it didn't curl up into a ball due to the weight. The cotton is a little less smooth than before washing, which is to be expected.
