High performance micro lugs at a reasonable price

Purchased for winter hiking. They are very useful on well traveled snow trails where the snow is well packed; They offer good traction without picking up too much snow. Pretty easy to put on and take off, they are well marked and adhere well to the shoe. They definitely offer better traction than cheaper designs I've seen that have tiny carbide pins on plastic rims in a rubber holder. both legs) My only gripe is that after a single use there are already some signs of rust and corrosion. The only spot that really bothers me is the velcro buckle that runs along the toe of the foot. Carrying them to/from your car has a good chance of hitting salt, so expect rust. If they had spent a little more for more corrosion resistant metal these would have been 5 star products. Anyway, they are good and do what they're supposed to, but would benefit from better materials. Note. I also received a pair in a different size under a different brand but they appear to be identical in all respects. , right down to the bag they came in, the markings and labels on the rubber top, and the stamped patterns on the cleats themselves. I suspect there's only one factory in China that makes all of this. All in all, this should be fine if you're looking for something that will last you for multiple seasons of short/moderate winter hiking. If you do more extreme hikes like winter hikes where every gram counts and gear failures are really big issues, I would spend a little more for something more comfortable.

Pros
  • FLEXIBLE MATERIALS - High quality plastic elastomers (TPE) provide a flexible and lightweight grip that is more cold resistant and has the coefficient of elasticity of traditional rubber. Improved design maintains flexibility down to -50Β°F.
Cons
  • High price
