It is a great Birthday gift. My daughter just turned 8 and when I am telling you I let that be her first gift to open and she automatically put it to use. She took pictures all day with her friends and family at her birthday party gave her a chance to remember her own special moments. Not too bad price durable enough to be accidentally dropped but nice enough to have the sense to handle with care . a great first camera that helps her unleash even more of her imagination. Battery life can't really complain it lasted all day and is still going but I guess it depends on how much you use it. There are cool games that she got to play but the picture mode and the fact that she can flip it to a self view caught her interest. As a single mom of two it was something that felt big yet not too expensive to break my pocket and now her brother wants one for his birthday cause she doesn't wanna share hers so this camera was definitely a hit .
