Review on Premium Stainless Steel Brush Cleaner System for Artists and Painters - Leak-Proof Oil Paint Brush Washer by Karla Richter

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great addition for painting in small spaces or on the go

When I'm not at my drawing table, I use a tiny water container for watercolors. The small water container, while waterproof, is too small, so I went with a stainless steel brush cleaner, which I often see outdoor watercolor listings. It says it's rust resistant and waterproof, it's still small enough to carry around and holds about 3 times more water than my small container. It has a stainless steel strainer, which I don't need as a strainer, but it's handy for lightly rubbing brushes over the paint to be removed. Although I have read reviews of many similar products reporting that the edges around the circles on the seven were sharp, but on this device the edges weren't sharp at all, so I didn't have to sand it or risk breaking the brushes. The washing brush smelled a bit, either like oil or some kind of varnish, so I took it apart, washed it with warm soapy water, shook it with the lid tightly closed, no leaks, drips or suds came out. I rinsed and dried it and then tried shaking it with water in it. Again no leaks. It's not a huge water reservoir, but big enough for my needs. It holds about 14 ounces of water with a strainer and is filled almost to the brim, while the small reservoir holds 1/3 cup filled to the brim. I don't paint large paintings and I wipe my brushes with a sponge or paper towel before rinsing them off. So 14 ounces should work just fine. Two months have passed and I am editing this review. I have used this water container every day and no leaks or rust. I am a happy camper as this stainless steel water container allows me to take my watercolors and brushes anywhere and I have enough water to really paint. And I leave it full and closed on my desk so I can start painting whenever I want.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Little things
