DO NOT buy cheaper versions.

*Nice note: this product is actually slightly darker than the stock photos****UPDATE 7/22/17: Still valid! I noticed that the straps have faded a bit under UV light. When I adjusted the shoulder straps a bit and moved the elastic saver sleeves, a shadow appeared in place of those elastics. No complaints at all and I'd rather have packaging that looks 'used' than shiny brand new. We are pleased to report that there has been no evidence of seam tears, buckle or strap failure, or buckling in zippers. I love this pack! The ONLY thing I could mention is a slight degradation of the inner "lining" which appears to be a thin, transparent, rubbery coating. It is peeling off at more "worked out" areas (corners, etc.). If that makes a backpack "waterproofโ€, then nothing more. But I didn't buy it to be fully waterproof - I have specific products to keep things 100% dry when needed. However, it can withstand light rain and the occasional splash. I'm still shocked and impressed by the value of this package! *UPDATE 6/27/16: I've owned this pack for a few months now and it has traveled around the country and is used almost daily. There's no sign that it's going to fall apart; No broken seams, no rips, no fraying, no broken buckles or zippers. This is the quality package I was hoping for! One thing I noticed is that a couple of the MOLLE sections are sewn too tight to fit a strap through. With some effort, I was able to get the strap through these tighter sections, but it's not easy. Overall I am very impressed with this pack and several friends have also purchased this pack and they are all happy too! You can directly compare and say you need this! Don't fall for the cheaper versions - spend a few bucks more on these and you won't be disappointed! If you buy a cheap one and hold it in your hands at the same time, you will never choose the cheaper ones. It feels stronger/heavier and I have no doubt it will really last. As a replacement for the cheap version I bought I considered this pack and a similar one from Maxpedition. I couldn't spend more than $130 for a pack this size and I'm glad I didn't. It's one! Of course I'll update if things get bad, but I don't see that. A few quick comparison notes: - The outer material (denier) is heavier than the competition - The webbing is tighter woven (stronger) than the competition - There is no cheap rubber coating on the inside to tear/fall apart. one (like competitors) - The firmware is very reliable - The inner pockets are of better quality than the cheaper ones.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Large and bulky
