A solid lock is expensive. Not as expensive as the gear it protects.
The lock is quite strong, they have improved the forward facing lock in the washer. It is now a rear facing latch so the old drilling technique shown by LockPickingLawyer on Youtube has been covered. I also bought the wrong size padlock and customer service was quick to replace it on my doorstep.
