Removing the spacer can allow 28mm diameter but it will scratch the paint or handlebar finish.Making fine adjustment requires to carry around the included Allen key. If you happen to ride on bumpy roads you might need that Allen key more often than not. Installing a lock washer on each screw will help with resistance to motion providing a more secured connection.The BriskMore Handlebar Bike Mirror is very good for road riding and provides good visibility and some adjustability.It has very good horizontal reach, but it could have been better if it had more vertical reach, so I see traffic over my shoulder.For some reason the mirror could be tilted pointing all the way down.
