My horse doesn't like his mane being plucked so I use this to thin the tips of his mane when I trim it for horse shows. I use scissors to trim most of his mane short and then use this razor to make the ends look more natural instead of the blunt cut the scissors would leave. Since other reviews have said how easy it is to clip too much hair if you're not careful, I was surprised at how difficult it is to trim my horse's mane with it. But horse hair is coarser than human hair, so it might have something to do with it. This only works if I'm doing very small sections at a time and applying appropriate pressure. But for the price it works well.
