So much for buying certified cables, now what?

Updated 01/04/19 Anyone looking for a cable that will work with the Asus PG348Q at 1440p 100Hz should know that the KableDirekt 8k DisplayPort cable works perfectly - https://smile .amazon.com/ gp /product/B07HL7RSRW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1New PC build including ROG Strix RTX2080 and new ROG Strix PG348Q Ultra Wide Monitor. I built and tested the computer with an old 1600 x 1200 Dell monitor that I sat on when deciding which monitor to buy. After getting the PG348Q and the Startech cable I set everything up and you can see what I experienced in the video. In this video everything was set to 3440 x 1440 and 100Hz. At 60Hz the flicker wasn't as bad, but it was still there. I think I should have just bought a different Mac instead of having to deal with all the hassle of having a Windows machine. (Using a Mac since the advent of Vista, having created about 100 custom gaming/overclocked rigs between 1994 and 2006). While googling this issue, several posts suggesting changing forks helped me. It wasn't until I did that that the monitor reported that the DP cable was not connected. Eventually I unplugged the cable that came with the monitor and had to move the computer to reach it. Voila, no problem. I've been playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider for 2 days on all settings on a mix of high and ultra at 100hz and not a single flicker in sight. Does anyone have any idea where I can get a 10ft/3m cable? You need at least 7'.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Modern
