Review on πŸ”Œ Mac Mini M1 USB-C Hub: SATA SSD/HDD Slot, USB 3.0/2.0 Ports, TF/SD Card Readers – Compatible with Mac Mini 2018/2020 by David Naranjo

Revainrating 3 out of 5

One of the best Mac accessories I've ever bought.

If you have a Mac Mini, especially newer ones like the recently released M1, you should get one. Mine is black and sits on a dark trunk with my TV on top. The block almost disappears on the chest. All I can really see clearly are the blue and white LEDs, which are only slightly brighter than the power LED on the Mac. +1 for not having blindingly bright LEDs like so many of my other electronics. The only slight downside is that you have to hold the SD card upside down to insert it so that the contacts are visible. A shorter USB Type-C cable would also be nice to connect the base to the Mac Mini. The included one is short but still about 6 inches long. Half the cable would have been better, but that's a very minor downside. I added 4 silicone feet between the top of the base and the bottom of the Mac Mini as Macs don't have a flat bottom and the silicone feet hold the Mac Mini securely on top of the base. Manufacturer's Note: Silicone feet are included I have a new SSD Added a 1TB Samsung for fast external storage and for use with Photoshop as a scratch drive. The base is otherwise well built and looks fantastic under a Mac Mini. I think it would look great on the iMac foot base too. You'll need a longer USB cable to connect to your iMac, but they're cheap these days. .

Pros
  • Useful for more than it's intended purpose
Cons
  • So-so
