Review on Weller D650 High-Performance Industrial Soldering Gun by Andy Edwards

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The company has been making them since 1945 — they don't even have a website.

Used version with lower performance for over 45 years. I changed the spark plug 30 years ago. The lightbulb burned out 35 years ago and has never been replaced. Still works. The nozzles were changed about 25 times. This model is the most powerful, but is not included in the kit. For protection during transport, only the gun and the hard cardboard tube around the handpiece and electrodes. The latest version has a three-pronged grounding plug. This is their idea of innovation. I still use two lightbulbs. It may be another 40 years before they switch to LEDs. They were made in the year I was born, that is, the company was 70 years old. This model requires a hex wrench to replace the tip. Be careful when ordering tips. They come in different sizes so make sure you pick the right one. I only wish they included an Allen key. Don't give them a star for that. At this rate my grandkids will be using my Weller shotguns. And they are only 1 year old.
