It turned out great as a wallpaper, albeit a bit difficult! Detailed review of my journey with wallpapers below in case anyone else wants to use it that way. I did a lot of research but didn't find much information on using contact paper on walls. The paper doesn't get very thick after you remove the backing (see photo of the old wallpaper) so it's probably best to put it on a lighter colored surface. Not that durable either, but I still give 5 stars because you really can't beat this price for the quantity you're getting. I only needed 3 rolls to frame the entire kitchen. I looked at many options for this project and if I had chosen thicker paper I would have paid a significantly higher price. There are guide lines on the back of the roll to help with cutting but to be honest they are not very helpful because they have instructions printed on the lines in many languages and those words obscure where the lines should be what makes it a little harder. difficult to cut. I used a new Xacto blade and had no problem cutting the paper to size. Details for those who want to wallpaper: The rented apartment had a strange pear-shaped wallpaper border in the kitchen. I wanted to find a solution to temporarily hide this, but turns out nobody makes wallpaper borders today that aren't as gross as repulsive pears. There are many pretty wallpapers out there, but they come in rolls to be hung vertically, so I had trouble finding a pattern that would work as a narrow, horizontally hung border. Also, the cute wallpaper cost more than I was willing to pay for something that would only benefit me for a year or two of rent. My original idea was not to remove the backing at all, just using a temporary applique adhesive. Paper with attached backing. However, the existing border has already come loose in many places, so I can't hang it up without further damaging the existing border. I decided to clean the back of this product but then discovered that the old border was dark enough that the pears could be seen through this paper. So I peeled the top layer of the previous border (which was falling apart) and placed this paper directly on top of the even older and surprisingly uglier previous border (neon green and blue checkered). Given the less than ideal condition of this wall, I don't think I'll be able to remove the paper when we move out and plan on leaving it as an improvement for the next tenant. If you had a clean surface with no pre-existing problems or wallpaper, I think you could remove it without damaging the wall.
