I only bought this for the combination of print and color! It is so sweet. It made a HUGE difference on this project and I'm thrilled with the results! The backing is very easy to cut as the guidelines are printed on the backing. You'll have to be patient when you start leveling it and removing the backing, but it comes back pretty easily before you polish it if you need to build it back up. It turned out great as a wallpaper, albeit a bit difficult! Detailed review of my journey with wallpapers below in case anyone else wants to use it that way. I did a lot of research but didn't find much information on using contact paper on walls. The paper doesn't get very thick after you remove the backing (see photo of the old wallpaper) so it's probably best to put it on a lighter colored surface.
