I got this because after looking at the Raspberry Pi 2 I thought the weak point was the micro USB connection. To disable it, it must be disabled either when connected to the RPi or via an adapter. The only thing I didn't notice was that the adapter/power supply I had was wired and didn't have a USB connection. Not that it's a big deal just to know. At the moment I have it plugged into the USB port on my UPS and it works great. I think I could use Linux commands, but it's easier, especially when they don't work. Pros: Works great as an on/off cable. Cons: Doesn't transfer data. Again, it's not a big deal, but if you use it to charge and transfer data like your phone, you'll likely be disappointed.
