Review on Tiltaing A7 A9 Kit Tilta by Gary Newman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent universal reinforced frame for Sony A7 series.

I have previously had cages on Nikon D series and Sony RX100 series cameras, I usually shoot in the countryside/outdoors and enjoy the integration the cages offer. In the attached iPhone image, you can see the A7iii in a Tilta cage with a SmallHD monitor on top and Tilta's compact matte box in the foreground. Sony 24mm f1.2 prime lens. You'll find that I use a single pole clip that attaches to the cage to secure the matte box. I also installed a full-size HDMI connector as an intermediate connection, which minimizes wear and tear on the camera's mini HDMI connector. The rig balance with the integrated grip tape (shown on the other side of the cage) is excellent. There isn't a pen in the photo that I always use when I hold it in my hand. It's good for general arm-extended shooting, low-angle shooting, and portability—even with a 5-inch SmallHD monitor attached. It's not easy, but much better than my old cells on other cameras. I am happy. I'm in the hardware business, so I'm still investigating configurations for sound, flash, focus tracking, and other applications. It's amazingly versatile.
