I spent a long time trying to figure out which bluetooth/intercom headset to get and of course the Sena was always the best and so on and so on. I was ready to give the SMH10-11 a try as it was being considered for better sound quality/volume in a helmet, but just as I was about to do so I stumbled upon them in a review. I watch them and a lot of the reviews on this product are from former users whose devices broke and who chose this cheaper option. I was sold and gladly made the purchase to get two units for the price of one Sena. So about them: Setup: Took a second on my first helmet, there aren't very clear instructions on where to place the speakers or how to run them inside the helmet, so I didn't use velcro/glue on my first helmet until I figured out how it sounds and wasn't sure if he was right. I placed the left one directly behind the left ear pad, tried to route the cable behind the ear pad as high above my head as possible, and placed the right behind the right ear pad. The device comes with both a tripod and a wired microphone so you can choose the one that suits your helmet style. You can use any of these for a regular full face, but you must use an arrow for open/modular ones. I choose a wire with a cord as it was a regular full face, fan it out right in front of my mouth and use tape to easily secure the cord to the helmet so the mic dangles a bit but stays in front of my mouth most of the time. After that, pairing with my phone and using it was easy. After installing it on the first helmet, the second became much easier. However, I do notice that since the second helmet was brand new and the first was about 12 years old, the second helmet had small cutouts behind the ear pads to specifically place the speakers. Also, all of the padding could be relocated, making it much easier to completely hide the wires behind the padding. This helmet was modular and therefore required an overhead microphone. It was pretty straight forward. One more thing, not sure if it's manufacturer or age related, but the first helmet, the side I had to mount the device on wasn't flat so it wobbled a bit, the second module is perfectly flat so that the device fits snugly to the side of the helmet. Audio Quality: After pairing, I turned up the volume while standing in my living room to see how it sounded with my speaker setup. They were quite loud but crackled at high volume. They don't have much bass, so any bass-heavy songs will sound like a phone speaker. I called and the person on the other end called loud and clear and they heard me too. Then I jumped on the bike and accelerated it to highway speed. I've noticed that I can hardly hear any music and definitely no phone calls. However, people on the phone said they couldn't hear the bike or the wind, and I was crystal clear. I thought the situation might be related to my speaker's location. I got home, moved the speakers around a bit and tried again. This time the sound quality is much better. Haven't tried a road test with the second helmet yet as it came a bit late and it's winter now so finding good days to go outside is harder. Intercom: Setting up the intercom was a bit confusing at first, but I attribute this to my misunderstanding of the instructions. I think the two devices are already paired and while trying to set them up I unplugged them. I then reconnected and tested them following the instructions in the book. Initially, the second device's audio didn't reach the first, but that's because we tested at home and the second person wasn't speaking loud enough to overcome the microphone's noise-cancellation. As soon as they started talking louder, like riding a bicycle, everything became loud and clear. I wasn't able to try the pairing on a bike because, as mentioned above, it's still winter and it's hard to find good days to ride. Conclusion: So far I am definitely satisfied with this purchase. The price for two units was cheaper than for a Seine. So far the sound quality seems pretty amazing. The setup was quite simple, voice commands can be easily controlled via Bluetooth. The buttons are raised and clear enough to see and press easily. I look forward to testing this on longer trips with both devices. PS I also have a new helmet and I will transfer the device from my first helmet to this one and see if it improves the sound quality more.
