I now have several of these organizers: one in my utility bag, one in my laptop bag and one on the shelf next to my desk for storing various items. necessary things. The book is a little smaller than expected but actually perfect - it serves as the perfect base for my book bag, fitting snugly and locking securely horizontally. Most of the things in this bag I don't need to access more than once every few weeks, but when I need them, I need them. It works great there. In my crossbody bag, it fits perfectly vertically in the front pocket without taking up too much space, leaving enough room on either side for a laptop charging cable and mouse. My only complaint is that the straps inside are not 100% symmetrical. Sometimes figuring out how to organize a book so it closes properly can be difficult. But it is a matter of time and determination to correct it.
