Review on Yukon YA W46101 - Ford Dana 60 Differential 4340 Chrome-Moly Outer Stub Replacement by Todd Calloway

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Axle with components already pressed in

This thing does exactly what it was designed to do. The big plus for me is that it comes pre-pressed with seal, bearing, pushrod and plate. This was the part I wasn't prepared for when I clicked on the new accessory. I justified the purchase for myself by getting a sturdier than OEM axle for less than it would cost me to take a Jeep anywhere and have them use their press to replace the old parts on the original axle. There will be screws at work that are difficult to reach with a torque wrench when you're in a driveway. I just used a lock and did my best. Haven't ridden much since installed but everything seems fine, transmission oil leaking through rear tire and brake repaired. Be aware that if you're replacing an axle for this reason (poor sealing leads to leaks), you'll likely need new rotors while you're there. Also, I found I needed a nice big 18mm wrench to get the job done, which isn't found in the regular tool box.

Pros
  • Yukon 4340 chrome moly axles offer 50% more strength than standard axles for extreme conditions with big tires and high performance
Cons
  • Easily cracked
