Probably safer on the wall
I don't have a good wall hanging space because my cabinets are so low so I bought this to put in the fridge based on the reviews. It holds four steak knives, a chef's knife, a bread knife, and a santoku knife, but it tends to slide around in the fridge unless I'm very careful with inserting and removing knives. It will probably be more stable fixed to the wall.
