I also have this Apple adapter. Apple One works without being connected to a power source. It must have the power to work. Apple has the ability to charge when your iPad or iPhone is low, but it still works offline. It's a lot cheaper than the Apple adapter, but the lack of that feature may make it useful for some. Buy an Apple adapter.
