After reading many reviews I took a chance that this would work with a Pioneer NEX head unit. As the title says, it is. Even after connecting a 6" USB-C cable to the phone, there is still no problem using Android Auto with my new NEX. The mounting hardware is not as good as others have mentioned. The mounting kit contains two nuts. The larger one (with flange) can be screwed on with little care. The smaller, harder one doesn't seem to match the carving at all. Looks good installed on my 2008 F-150. April 2, 2018. I have changed my rating to three stars. About two weeks ago, Android Auto would intermittently freeze, constantly freezing and restarting, with occasional errors about incompatible software. I tried two other USB-C cables (I have a Pixel2), none of them changed. Today I plugged these cables straight into the back of the Pioneer and everything worked flawlessly. I don't know if the problem is with the NEX USB port or the USB on the dash. Still, one of those two (male or female) doesn't seem to offer a stable connection. I really wish there was a dash mounted USB port (makes it easier to update firmware) but connecting directly to the NEX works - and that's the main thing for me.
