I have read many reviews here that this item does not work and some say it does. It seemed like a pretty basic device and cost less than $10, so I bought it. I needed this because my motherboard only has 1 internal USB port and I wanted to connect my Corsair H100i and HX750i to the Corsair LINK software for control. When I first plugged everything in, it didn't work. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the plastic cover for the 4-pin motherboard connector was not installed properly. I pushed the plastic cover all the way onto the board and the device shows up as a 4 port USB: [64567.964080] usb 1-13: new USB high speed device number 31 with xhci_hcd[64568.095170] usb 1-13: new USB device found, idVendor =05e3, idProduct=0608[64568.095171] USB 1-13: New USB Device Strings: Mfr=0, Product=1, SerialNumber=0[64568.095172] USB 1-13: Product: USB2.0 Hub[64568.095763 ] Hub 1- 13:1.0: USB hub found[64568.096027] Hub 1-13:1.0: 4 ports found. So if you're having trouble with a non-working device, check the connection and make sure it's set up correctly.
