Good value for money. Everything is done manually, so none of your automatic camera settings are adjusted. I have a d5300 and use this lens for wildlife photography, I do a lot of photography and bird tracking. I've used it with and without a tripod and either way it takes practice. You just have to go out and play with it. I get good moon shots when the moon is bright. One downside is that it requires a lot of light, meaning either shooting subjects in bright areas or using a slower shutter speed, which will wash out the images a bit. This is the lens I take with me, but it's not the lens I always carry with my camera. I usually use an 18-140mm lens with all automatic settings. This is a good lens to carry in my bag and take out when I find something in a tree and want to get a close-up. This lens takes practice to stay steady and focus. Initially I got a lot of blurry images until I got the hang of it. One great thing is that it's good to use even a telescope to see things in the distance. It has a better zoom than most binoculars.
