I use this as my 3rd monitor and only use it to display characters. SETUP is stupid. It turned on and said it was connected to VGA. I needed HDMI. Press the "Menu" key. Nothing happens. At startup, the power button turned blue and then red. I called ASUS support, they needed a serial number. The support person showed me their script several times. She asked if it works on VGA? Good. I have a laptop with side VGA output (Lenovo W530, 7+ years old). I unplugged the laptop from the docking station and plugged in the VGA. IT WORKED! The menu appeared. I was able to change the setting to HDMI input. Removed the VGA cable, plugged the laptop into the docking station, and IT WORKS! I was able to access the menu. I read another review. This person said that once you turn it on, you press the button to the left of the power button and it will sync with your connection. NO INSTRUCTIONS in the box, how would you know.
