Don't worry, spend your money on the cable. I use it with a Duracell case specifically designed for this Powermat. Even with built-in magnets, it's difficult to position it properly for charging. It makes an annoying multi-tone beep and turns on an LED if you get it right, but both beeps linger long enough that it's easy to overshoot the mark and not charge your phone. It almost always takes several tries to find the sweet spot needed to start charging. The sound is loud enough to wake up a sleeping partner - hearing it half a dozen times in a row while trying to find the right position is a great way to really piss off the person next to you. Do yourself a favor and spend your money on a charging cable; this thing is more annoying than helpful.
