This turntable may get rave reviews, but when you switch to a better cartridge, be careful. The tonearm wires are very thin and flimsy, like threads. The cartridge provided by Project is called Sumiko Olympia. It has good reviews but I wanted to upgrade to Ortofon 2M Blue. Unfortunately, I've never gone that far. I used needle nose pliers to grab the pin, which is very tight, and pull. The first two wires came out fine. The last two wires have come loose from their pins. Those reviewing these turntables should emphasize that these wires are very thin. Also, this process can pull too much wire out of the tonearm. Good luck trying to get those wires back up your arm.
