An almost perfect product for a very specific purpose - UPDATED REVIEW

Lighting a sculpture or painting can be a problem, and old-fashioned horizontal lamps might work on some paintings, but they're lousy for sculpture and just plain ugly, in my opinion. I have a tree stump with roots that I dug up once, dried, stained, peeled and hung on the wall for several years. But even with a few overhead spotlights and floor lamps, the space was dark and subtle colors were lost. I was preparing for an expensive electrician project to install a set of switches in this area when I came across this product. Perfect! Easily mounts to the ceiling at any distance convenient for your project and can point in a 360Β° circle. Switches from bay to pinpoint by turning the dial (make sure you figure out what you want the light to look like before setting it up, as the distance from your subject and the size of the beam will mostly determine where it should be placed). LEDs can be operated from very warm to very cold and everything in between. Various brightness levels (note that maximum lumens are limited when running on battery power compared to full lighting from the AC adapter). Timer for 3 or 6 hours. All of this is controlled with a simple but powerful remote control that also includes 2 memory banks for preferred settings. I have a setting for a 6 hour "show off" mode when the company is over and another for a much darker and warmer mood setting. Leader. I estimate that the device runs 6 times on my "high" settings for about 6 hours before needing to be recharged. That's the only downside I can give this device - charging is NOT "fast charging" and typically takes around 5-8 hours each time. My ceilings are low enough that I can easily remove the lamp from its holder, charge it on the counter, and reinstall it. For those with higher ceilings, they sell a special adapter so the unit doesn't have to be removed, but be aware that this means you'll have a power cord hanging from the light every month or so during those charging times. If you have the ability to hook it up, this is undoubtedly the way to go. They have brighter settings and don't need to be charged all the time. One "hack" I did was to charge on the counter. It is natural to turn the device "upside down" to avoid scratching the white bulb. However, the battery falls out when inverted (attached with a wire, but still PITA). ). First I put another towel over it to avoid scratching it, but finally I cut some thin strips of gorilla tape, which now holds the backpack in place and is thin enough not to interfere with its remounting to the ceiling ( see photo). a few words about the company itself. I had to call them twice and the real person picked up the first call. The first time she helped me solve a remote control problem that was confusing me. I called again about a month later realizing I charge batteries VERY often, spoke to a gentleman who apologized (I know lithium batteries can be spotty) and he immediately sent a new package which has been great ever since is working. Bottom line, this is a device that serves the needs of the niche VERY well. I haven't seen anything like it before or since. UPDATE 9/12/20 - I LOVE this lamp. I LOVE this lamp. I LOVE this lamp. I HATE nightly charging every 3-4 weeks, used or not. I HATE an overnight charge every 3-4 weeks, used or not. I HATE charging overnight every 3-4 weeks, used or not. PLEASE use MethodLights. You MUST find a 2nd Gen model with: - a stingier LED bulb that uses less power - better batteries for faster charging and longer time between charges - a remote sensor that doesn't use as much power when idle - or a dedicated one Switching power supply that turns on the light so no batteries are used at all. And don't forget to offer discounts for the 1st. Buyer Gen. ;-) I'm soooo jealous of everyone who has wired ones.
