Great light source for artwork, especially if you don't have a direct (AC) power source. You can vary the color temperature, focus of the beam and intensity (although the ML-Direct, which requires a power source, has much higher lumens - about what you need for a large image). The ML200 is powered by good quality rechargeable lithium batteries. The main problem with this light is simple, the color of the light is not uniform and not bright enough. When you turn on the maximum light setting, the light gets very cold, and when you press to warm it up, it automatically dims. So if you're looking for warmer tones of light, it's going to be very dim and not provide decent lighting. First off, let me say that I'm a bit obsessed with how things are supposed to work. I have several artworks hanging on a brick wall and it is absolutely impossible to connect power to the ceiling light. I tried two wireless remotes with disastrous results (one was dimmed for three hours, requiring climbing a ladder and changing batteries), the second suffered the same fate. My husband and I have been collecting art for years and have always struggled to get the right lighting for photos and paintings. Some houses have built-in lights or track lights with adjustable lenses to illuminate the art, but the house we are in right now doesn't have built-in lights. I'm not a big fan of picture lights hanging over the artwork because they're either too big and bulky hanging over the artwork (and distracting) or the light doesn't cover the entire artwork from top to bottom.
