Why would anyone want it to be light? Then it should also be durable? It's not feather light and is more durable than expected for its weight. It seems perfect to me. This is a beautiful well made item. The color of rosewood really catches the eye, but it's not premium rosewood. I think this is one of the few items that I would call perfect. There is a thin space between the individual plates. This gives me a "peep hole" into the street below, but no one outside can see me working and eating at my kitchen table, even across the street on the third floor. Very cool product. On a desk or table this has enough room for one person - I'm 6ft 1in tall. GOOD PRODUCT!
