Bought for my young cat JJ. It's a long-haired tuxedo cat. Got it based on reviews. JayJay 14 months. He doesn't like licking his fur. And he hates being combed. But does not contain chewing gum. My other 2 older cats don't mind being brushed and I have used it on them. You have no sticking problems. They don't care since they saw it on JJ. I'm pretty sure they made fun of him after every session. In summary, if your cat's fur is tangled, the problem is unlikely to be resolved. But it's good for preventing clumping. So it's not bad at all.
