I was looking for a cheaper alternative to another rehydration product. Nuun Energy was half the price, so I decided to give it a try. The packaging consists of very functional tubes that are easy to transport. PRODUCT: These are fairly large tablets designed to dissolve in a water bottle. HOWEVER, the tablets must be modified to actually fit through the bottleneck. While they are standing, you need to cut the pill in half to fit in the bottle. Don't expect the product to dissolve immediately in the bottle. After vigorous shaking, the tablet pieces remained intact. After 5-10 minutes they dissipated. TASTE: I dissolved the tablet in a standard water bottle (500 ml). The taste is tart, not sweet, with a slight hiss. Not much flavor but good flavor. PERFORMANCE: I took the product at 7pm, which is pretty late for a caffeinated product. Guilty. In general, the caffeine "lift" was effective for several hours with little jitters. I had trouble sleeping that night so I could say it was working. Again, my fault was taking it at the end of the day, so I can attest that it was "stimulating" and effective in that regard. Regarding electrolytes, I haven't experienced any of the leg cramps that I typically experience at night. Although this is not a scientific study, the product appeared to be effective there as well. FINAL THOUGHTS: While the taste left something to be desired and the pills don't fit the neck of a water bottle, I found the Naan energy product delivered as promised and would recommend it as an alternative to coffee or as an 'energy drink'.
