Review on Securely Attach Your Garmin Nuvi with i.Trek Sticky Mount (Black) by Sam Sergio

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Two problems solved.

I bought this for several reasons. First, I haven't had a secure suction cup mount yet. In the end, they all get so far that they fall down - and mostly while driving. Second, where I live, crime is (unfortunately) always a problem. From time to time we will hear from people aiming at cars with rings left by suction cup mounts on windshields. Look at the ring, determine that the GPS or other device is somewhere in the car, and smash the window to find out. I had to do a bit of googling to find a solution to both problems and that led me here on Revain to buy it. worth the risk Maybe it's because I have a polished aluminum flat surface over the self-assembled radio, but I haven't seen any signs of this mount losing its grip yet. I've had it for about a month now and even though it was hot as hell last week (100F+) it still holds up even when I remove the mounting clip from the sphere. If there are any issues with durability I will definitely edit this review. Whatever the case, I highly recommend it. ********************* Update: After about a month I can see the ball losing its friction. I have a 5 inch Garmin 52LM and it gets to the point where moderate pressure from bumps in the road or even a tap on the screen will set the entire device in motion. This is particularly bad as the 52LM uses an adapter that stays on the mount, so there's no need to constantly unplug and remove the device from the sphere. If you look closely at the plastic, it doesn't appear to be as tight as the original mounts. I'm actually thinking of taking apart the original mount to somehow attach the original sphere to it. I still like the layout of the dashboard - I just wish I didn't have to play MacGyver for it to work properly.
