They take the stress out of charging your batteries and keep them in tip-top shape. I've fried some new 6 volts in the past, unaware that these chargers don't auto-float and will continue to power my batteries at 14.2 volts. A blinking light on the device will indicate what stage it is in and the manual will describe what it is doing. I confirmed this with a voltmeter connected to 12v in my 07 Weekend Warrior FS Superlite and it matched the advertised voltages exactly. It works well! Everyone should own it unless they are equipped with it.
