Review on Broan SP3004 Backsplash 30 Inch Stainless by Michael Ward

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice Plain Stainless

Very satisfied. I wanted a plain apron made of stainless steel. Woman wanted something with a pattern. As I am a cook and a cleaning lady, I do not want the textured surface to be cleaned. Also, we only saw one sticker. I think sooner or later the sticks will fall off from the harsh environment above the stove. And the ones that don't fall off will ruin the drywall if they have to be removed. I just mounted it with screws. It fits pretty flat against the wall. I might add microbeads to the edges to prevent water from getting in from a big splash or while cleaning. I didn't want to glue or paint it on the back in case I wanted to remove it without destroying it. Installation tips at the end of the review. I had concerns about shipping but everything was well packaged. Although I bought this as a Revain Prime, I believe the Revain drop delivered this from NuTone. It was packaged in a heavy, flat box, but the box was completely wrapped in fiberglass and attached to a hardboard that was larger on all sides than the box itself. Masonite was chipped at the edges and corners, but the product packaging was intact, as was the panel itself. The good side was covered with a protective film and the side without the film looked pretty good but had been sanded a little rougher. Not sure why they call it "reversible". The "good side" was treated the same as my NuTone hood. my magnet Neodymium magnets are very strong. Normal magnets are also suitable. tips. First inspect the wall and scrape away any imperfections that may interfere with the installation of the panel. Leave the protective film on. Take your time and carefully drill the holes. I held it in place and marked all the holes. Then I drilled a top hole and installed a drywall anchor. I lifted the sheet again, inserted a screw and rechecked the position of the other top hole. Remove, drill, repeat. I checked the fit and my marks before drilling each hole. The drill bits tend to wander through the drywall, so I used a tiny pilot bit first. You want these holes to be PERFECT. If the screws go into the holes on the skirt, the sheet metal will not lay flat if you screw in every 4 inches. #8 bolts are recommended, but I used #6 stainless steel bolts and washers to give me a little more wiggle room. When you're finally ready to roll it up, just peel off the tape at each corner. Tighten it and don't overtighten the screws. Just a very gentle fit. Now remove the foil. Be careful the sheet is glued fairly well so remove at a slight angle so you don't accidentally tear/bend the sheet away from the wall. Just in case, click the leaf when you remove it. If you have gaps in the wall, press a bead of limestone under it and cover with masking tape until it dries. I do not recommend applying glue or sealant to the back before installation. You're bound to bend the material and ruin the drywall if you ever have to remove it for any reason.
