Grunts at medium volume, does not support aptX, DAC like 16-bit/48kHz

I do not recommend opening or modifying your speakers. Don't try this at home. Decent inexpensive speakers, unique built-in DAC for direct sound over USB. After all, there are better options elsewhere. Emptor caveat. My first issue is that they don't seem to support aptX, at least not on Android 11/Google Pixel 4 XL. SBC only. My second issue is that the DAC appears to be 16bit/48kHz. Finally, at moderate volumes, >70dB, my set doesn't pant well. The rattle is somewhere on the control board (RCA, 3.5mm, Micro USB board). With a few fixes I was able to greatly reduce it but not eliminate it. The first is copious hot-gluing of the control board and wire connectors, at least one of which is loose enough to rattle when touched (black and white pair). Second - by tightening the screws holding the control board to the back, my top screw was very loose and not secured. Third, the micro USB port has 2 problems; 1) It seems to rattle against the back wall, when I hold it with a small probe like the tip of a mechanical pencil it stops. 2) somehow allows the remaining wheeze to exit the speaker unhindered. By wrapping electrical tape around the plug, we've significantly reduced the overall volume of the rattle. After all these adjustments, I lowered the volume and changed the overall tone of the rattle. With neutral bass I can get close to 80dB before it bothers me. But I can't hear it, so I'm painfully aware. There's still a rattle from the backplate and I think I'm hearing a bit from the fake tweeter. I can't find any of them to fix it. I ended up replacing them with some Edifiers and am much happier. Now they work like computer speakers at moderate volume and not for music. Since I opened and changed them, I can't get them back, so I've learned my lesson. Wouldn't buy again.
