It took me about 5 minutes to set up the device. I set it to high and it indicated an increase in relative humidity of about 15% over the next hour. This is a fairly large living room with two working ceiling fans. You can see the fog coming out of the car, but it dissipates almost immediately. I noticed less static electricity and the house got warmer with the same thermostat setting. I left it on on medium all night the first night the ceiling fan didn't work and there was a small amount of water on the floor in front of the unit. I have since run one of the ceiling fans overnight and no condensation has formed near the unit. I doubt the accuracy of the hygrometer on the machine so I don't pay much attention to it, but when the machine is running the reading is higher. I set it to 50% and during the day when it's warm it rarely turns off, but when the house cools down at night it doesn't work as much. It's a low whisper. It's easy to refill and I use a descaling filter as I fill it with tap water and after a week of use I haven't noticed any mineral residue on any surface.
