Review on Enhanced Think Tank 6395 EP NSI Eyepiece for Hydrophobia Rain Covers by Patrick Arnautov

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Plastic is expensive, glass is not included, but it works.

This eyepiece actually looks more like an extension tube and doesn't actually have a built-in glass eyepiece (the second picture of the article shows a DK-17 eyepiece with no magnification, the one on an EP-NSI). You need to take out your normal eyepiece, mount it on this adapter and then mount the combination on the camera. The tube adds over 3/8" of overhang, allowing enough clearance for use with the hydrophobic cap. However, it also greatly increases vignetting, or fading, at the corners of the finder. The cost of keeping your Camera. The design is purely plastic.Mounting a standard Nikon eyepiece is easy, but the plastic threads make it difficult to mount on the camera. The threads also offer some resistance (at least when new) which makes it difficult to tighten enough , and there is a risk of threads being stripped. The build quality and lack of built-in glass make this item seem overpriced. You can buy a magnifying eyepiece like Nikon's DK-17M for about the same price ($3 more at the time of this review) is made of metal and includes an eyepiece. However, the DK-17M only adds about 1/4" projection, so it's a bit more difficult to get a neoprene hole/gasket over the eyepiece.

Cons
