Review on HBN Individual Grounded Compatible Assistant: Your Ultimate Smart Home Companion by David Caldwell

The plug is useless when restoring power after an interruption.

I ordered a 4 pack and two 2 packs and none of the plugs from the 4 pack worked properly while the two packs of plugs worked perfectly. All 4 packages randomly shut down by themselves. I've installed and reinstalled them all a few times, tested them all a few times, and randomly disconnected all 4 plugs after a few minutes or within 2 hours of each. But the rest of the two 2-packs worked as expected. These plugins work with the Smart Life app that works with the Alexa app, but they do not appear in the iPhone Smart Life Widget feature. I also had a different brand of 2-socket plug, and it didn't appear in the widget either. Since both brands of two-socket plugs didn't appear in the widget, it's the widget program itself that doesn't recognize two-socket plugs, not the fault of the HBN plug. Each socket can be controlled individually via apps or manually via two buttons on the plug. The buttons light up red when they are switched on. When powered off, the bottom button is off and the top button is blue. Solid blue means it's connected to your WiFi. The big problem I don't like about these dual plugs is that if power is lost they will be in the off position when power is restored. My other brand of SINGLE plugs returned to the position they were in before the power outage when power was restored. To partially offset the negative effects of a plug restoring power after a power outage, the Smart Life app has a feature you can enable to notify you if the plug has been unplugged for more than 30 minutes , but some power failure is on. You'll be screwed in under 30 minutes if you don't keep checking the app to make sure the plug is on when it should be. I will probably send them back because of this fatal error.

Pros
  • SET TIMER AND SCHEDULE. Use a countdown timer or schedule to automatically turn on and off all home electronics and appliances such as lamps, fans, humidifiers, Christmas lights, etc. For example, set the light to turn on at dusk or turn off at dawn to reduce energy consumption and save money.
Cons
  • Some errors
