I REALLY want to give a higher rating but I just can't with the issues I'm having. It was like this. Order placed and received promptly. I took the day off to do the installation as it was a very busy week. I watched some videos on the internet, read reviews and decided the installation would be pretty easy. I wanted to "get it right" so I took my time and started soldering the wires, shrinking them, making sure I had a good ground connection, and planning on wrapping the wires as well. Plugged everything in and flicked the switch to try out the light and no joy. Nothing has happened. Flicked the switch to actuate the socket, and again. Nothing. I looked at it for some time and checked my work, as I was sure I had made a mistake somewhere. But really only ONE wire needs to be connected (three connections but only one wire). Couldn't find the problem so I concluded the device must be DOA. So I started looking for contact information in the documents that came with the device. GREAT! Support email only. I'm not having much luck with them and it's not the same as calling tech support and having a real person on the phone who can help troubleshoot. But I left my details and sent an email. 10 minutes later I got a call from a gentleman. WOW! Good answer. So we spoke and he explained that all units were checked before he left the line. BUT, what could happen is that there is a problem. So he took my address and sent me another device. The second jack arrived about 2 days later. Left work again as hike was next day and really wish this jack was up and running before we left. He went out and removed another jack. Installed a new socket. THAT DOES NOT WORK! Good. I have low confidence when it comes to electronics. My male card slipped out of my wallet as there is ONLY ONE LINK! Of course I'm not that stupid. I threw a few tantrums and then asked the neighbors to look at my work and find the problem. There are no dice. Everyone said it should work. Then I had a stroke of genius and I recently asked my wife to go through Revain reviews and see what they said. BINGO! Several reviewers the week I bought mine found the problem. The yellow ground wire was NEVER connected. I just sit in the hull and cool off. Thanks to these great reviews, I was able to resolve the issue quickly and efficiently. THANKS to those who posted photos and solved the problem. I am also attaching my photos in hopes it will help the next guy. One thing I wasn't clear on was exactly where to ground it after I put the plug in. So I contacted the company and the guy who had previously helped me started the conversation and told me that they had just discovered the problem that day and explained what had happened. The attached photos show the ground wire as shipped, and the second shows where you grounded it after the ring connector was connected. I will say the service they provided was impressive and that is the only reason I give it 3 stars. My time is worth something and they figured it out and did it more than "right". Used the jack on 2 trips and it works great! But I have to subtract the hassle of installing two units and repairing both.
