I do both 3D figures and 2D wool painting. This rug is great for my characters and gives them the right density. The carpet collects fibers (other photos look similar enough to mine) so I prefer it for the main building as it doesn't really matter if there is color transfer but for my finer work, my 2D work and finishing touches / the outermost layers on all work; I don't like using this mat. I have a DIY item I made from a small wooden tray and a piece of memory foam from a mattress pad that works great with this wool rug to meet all my needs. It's easy to clean the mat from the fibers, you get a part of the mat. Fibers high when you brush, but a tiny little amount. Since I make 3D characters, I only collect these for my "cuts" and also use them for my main job. To clean, I just squeeze it or use the other end of the needle to scrape it, much like removing hair from a comb. Carpet that will last (I've had it for about a month).
