Many reviewers have given this product a bad rating but that may not be fair. I bought it because it wasn't possible to get to the socket rings because the balls were too tight. Basically, I wanted to avoid having to remove the bracket from the wall to tighten the balls. The tool worked well on one of the rings but not the other two and in the end I was left with no choice but to remove the lantern. We were able to remove two complex rings with pliers and I found that the problem wasn't with the tooling but with the cheap rings that had warped from the heat of the lamps. I bought two new better quality socket rings and the tool worked great in tightening the balls.
