I LOVE these towels. A lot of. So why four stars? I'm taking off a star for the price, but if these towels last (more than a few months of daily washing without becoming less absorbent or fraying), I'll definitely upgrade my rating to five stars. I'm a big fan of flimsy towels, but they also need to be absorbent. I've tried "waffle weave" towels in the past which have pile/terrycloth on mesh, but after a while the absorbency drops and the lint comes out of the towel and the towels are basically just flat pieces of fabric. Towels are completely different. There is NO LOFT or MAHRA on these towels - NO LOOP. When you receive them they are very flat, almost as thick as a regular kitchen towel. I was very concerned when I took them out of the box (and they were also wrapped in flimsy plastic - ugly presentation in a laundry bag or recyclable packaging which was a disappointment considering the price) and they were just really thick. Leaves. But then I tossed them in the wash (twice) and the towels basically shrunk and curled up, creating a waffle texture. It's like one of those magic sponges, they flatten out like a piece of paper and as soon as you wet them they grow. Thing is, when you dry these towels, they stay a little plush and fluffy (and the edges curl/ruffle too, so if you love having your towels folded and laid out on a sharp-edged shelf, they will crazy..) Once washed/dried, these towels are instant favourites. They wick moisture well, dry faster, stay white through washes, and don't feel as cheap as most other flimsy towels I've bought. If it's the latter I'll be replacing all my other bath and pool towels with them - it'll be a huge investment. One note - they are NOT soft. If you want your skin to feel comfortable, plush and soft, this isn't for you. But if you're looking for thinner towels that are absorbent and feel good, dry and light on the skin - never heavy and damp even after you've covered them up after a shower - then this is for you. Highly recommended, but at this price (and packaging).
