The shelf comes in a fairly plain box when it arrives with not many instructions as far as I can remember. It doesn't take much, but it's more of a DIY kit than a professional product. Regardless, the unit is very solid overall and holds my projector well. The bottom and top plastic connectors (whose sole purpose is to make installation and cable management cleaner/professional) don't fit snugly into the device and tend to fall out if the cable wiggles as a result. We fixed this by using cable channels to prevent wobble and make the installation a little more comfortable. In general a good shelf, I do not regret the purchase but it is not the best product in its class either. In case it helps your assessment, if I needed an extra floating shelf I'd probably buy a different device, but if we move to a new house I'll just move this one and keep using it.
