I noticed cloudy white spots, like smudged fingerprints, on every piece of shiny stainless or clear glass I washed by hand. Repeated washing did not remove the stains; In fact, they have multiplied. The only way to remove them was to spend a ridiculous amount of time rubbing them very hard with a dry towel. The mystery was finally solved when I realized that some of the stains had a faint stitch pattern to match the non-slip texture on the gloves' fingers. Washing dishes several times without gloves will remove the residue, but it takes some effort.
